The "Great Energy Transition" is a civilization-scale, do-or-die event.  The switch from fossil fuels to zero-emissions energy began in earnest in the 2010s and needs to be near-complete in the 2040s. It's 2026 now and it's been a slow going so far. But The Transition is happening. You can see it starting to manifest in metro areas – where most people are. ​
